Short Breaks
Our Short breaks service offers an opportunity for disabled children and those with complex needs to have fun, gain independence and experience new things, whilst their families get to take a much needed break from their 24-hour caring.
Step-A-Side has been providing short breaks services from our Ofsted registered children’s residential provision to disabled children and their families for many years; supporting young people who have complex health needs, physical disabilities or behavioural difficulties. We work with a variety of other agencies, social workers and health care professionals to ensure that disabled children and their families are properly supported and that the ‘short breaks’ are genuinely tailored to the individual to give a quality experience.
Short breaks can reduce family stress and are proven to prevent families from getting to crisis. Through Step-A-Side short breaks, disabled children and their families are having the opportunity to get valuable rest periods, allowing for ‘decompression’ and refocusing; which both parents and children have reported as being so vital.
‘Short breaks’ can be arranged for regular overnights, days, weekends or weeks – or they can be provided for a combination of the above. They are genuinely tailored to meet the needs of the child and their family and we would be delighted to discuss how we can help. Please drop us an email or call 01594 501230 for more information.
